After-School Program
The NCMC Island Youth Orchestra

Beginning in September, 2024, the NCMC After-School Program is designed to allow all island youth to explore music in a structured and social environment. Participation in the program is free, with NCMC Membership, and instrument subsidies are available. We invite you to learn more below and click the link to get your youth involved!

The After-School Program at a Glance
The After-School Program will be held at the Nantucket Intermediate School Monday through Thursday, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Each day will feature social time, musicianship classes, ensemble rehearsals, and instrumental sectionals.
All island youth grades 3-12 are invited to participate!
The program will begin on October 7, with breaks following the public school calendar.
For older youth, the program will feature a separate Rock Band track.
Participation in the program is free with an NCMC Membership! Instrument subsidies will ensure that all island youth can participate, even if they aren’t part of the program.
Led by Dr. Eddie Wilkins, the program will involve more than 15 professional musicians as instructors, including island musicians, island school music instructors, NCMC instructors, and guest musicians from the Boston Conservatory and the Luzerne Music Center.
