Mimicking the musical scale, the Seven Key Notes are the seven key strategic initiatives we believe will help us fulfill our mission. We envision a community with access to all aspects of music through teaching, learning, performing, and gathering.
C is for
Community of Musicians
NCMC’s core mission is make music a visible and engaging part of the community by providing lessons, classes, ensembles, and faculty concerts, while at the same time supporting all island musicians and encouraging the inclusion of music throughout Nantucket. Full Sponsorship Range $75,000-$100,000
Musician Happy Hour - Island musicians drop in weekly to jam, network, and share creativity ($10,000-$15,000)
Teen Drop-In Program - Teens interact with friends & faculty, gaining exposure to new instruments and genres ($15,000)
Open Mic Night at the NCMC - monthly open mic night ($10,000-$15,000)
Elder Outreach - Weekly concerts at island retirement homes ($5,000-$10,000)
Satellite Lessons - Providing lessons at the Boys and Girls Club and other venues ($10,000-$15,000)
Pocket Parks, Childrens’ Beach Series - Six concerts that bring the NCMC into the community ($10,000)
Diversity Concerts - Monthly concerts focusing on island cultures ($20,000 - $25,000)
D is for
Artistic Director
NCMC hopes to sponsor an Artistic Director to lead our faculty, to inspire our students, to expand our programs and create new initiatives, and to excite our Community of Musicians.
Full or Part time - 20 to 40 hours/week (Salary & Benefits $50,000-$100,000 annually)
E is for
Expanded Online Learning
Over the last 2 years increased participation in all forms of online activity, including music performances and music education, has grown. Improved technology makes it possible to deliver NCMC’s existing lesson and performance programming to existing audiences and grow a broader geographical audience and student body. Full Sponsorship Range $25,000 - $50,000
Update the NCMC’s website to deliver music lessons and performance content directly to NCMC members ($5,000-$10,000)
Expand NCMC’s online multimedia capability with web-based, plug-in widgets to improve the quality and range of online offerings ($5,000-$10-000)
Provide website technology to enable Members-only content for special programs, events, and classes ($5,000-$10,000)
Obtain specialized equipment that provides a better online learning experience for students and faculty that are unable to take lessons at NCMC’s 56 Centre Street facilities ($10,000-$20,000)
F is for
Faculty Development
NCMC wants to support its faculty and resident musicians by developing a strong commitment to their professional craft and their personal needs as music professionals. This includes creating an environment where faculty members can grow professionally and facilitate the amount time they can spend with NCMC’s broad community of students, audience members, and fellow musicians. Full Sponsorship Range $75,000-$125,000
Obtain group rates an partially subsidize health insurance to faculty and staff in proportion to the time spent providing NCMC services ($25,000 - $50,000)
Incentivize professional development for faculty with resources to pursue continuing education, certifications, and other professional development ($25,000-$50,000)
Enable a musical therapy extension service since Nantucket does not have a certified musical therapist. Providing funding for a faculty member to become a certified musical therapist would have significant community impact and expand NCMC programming ($25,000)
G is for
Growing Memberships
NCMC wants to develop programs and activities that benefit the community and make available resources that not only bring members of the community into the music center but also reach all parts of the island as well. Full Sponsorship Range $10,000-$25,000
Expand programming to incentivize membership
Expanded programs include members-only receptions, free lectures, and free concerts ($10,000-$25,000)

Aid and Scholarships
An NCMC goal is to provide music education and performance opportunities for everyone in the community. These funds make music a more visible and engaging part of the community by providing lessons, classes, ensembles, and faculty concerts, while at the same time supporting all island musicians and encouraging the inclusion of music throughout Nantucket. Full Sponsorship Range $25,000-$50,000
Through NCMC’s Aid and Scholarship program financial assistance, work-study, and performance-study opportunities are offered to students ($25,000-$50,000)
B is for
Better Instruments
NCMC’s core mission is make music a visible and engaging part of the community by providing lessons, classes, ensembles, and faculty concerts, while at the same time supporting all island musicians and encouraging the inclusion of music throughout Nantucket. Full Sponsorship Range $25,000-$50,000
Refurbishment of remaining pianos - performing required refurbishment and maintenance of the pianos in our inventory ($5,000-$15,000)
Refurbishment of other instruments ($5,000-$10,000)
Creating an instrument exchange program, including identifying instrument repair facilities and subsidizing the repair and refurbishment of instruments in the program ($15,000-$25,000)
